Miriam Patrick is a Latin and ESOL teacher in Georgia in the United States. She has a Bachelor degree from Georgia State University in Classics where she found a love for Arabic, a Master degree in Classics from the University of Florida, where she found a passion for studying proto-racism, and a Master degree in Special Education focusing on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and emotional behaviour disorder (EBD) from St. Mary's University where she found a renewed love for teaching learners of all kinds. Additionally she is certified to teach Latin, ESOL, Special Education, Gifted, and English Language Arts.
Miriam's research interests include proto-racism, particularly the ways the Romans dealt with the tribes of modern day Ethiopia and the tribes of modern day Ireland, ancient African and Irish history, Comprehensible Input, and socially justice minded teaching. She also has authored, produced, and edited the Latin podcast novella Sonitus Mirabilis.
Miriam enjoys reading Latin of all kinds, but has found particular love for all things monsters, Cornelius Nepos' work on Hannibal, the letters of Abelard and Heloise, and any novella she can get her hands on!
Miriam lives with her husband, 2 dogs, 5 cats, and fishtank. During a thunderstorm she prefers a close seat to the window and a scary movie. On sunny, warm days she is often found on a hike with family and friends, kayaking down a river, or playing video games.
